New House

Have you ever felt so undeserving of something that you are just counting the minutes until you wake up? That would be me this week. Joe and I have been house hunting for the last month. We have known that we will likely be moving in 1.5-2 years with his residency, but we have felt that buying a home to rent out later would be a good investment, especially in this market, so we have searched high and low with our Realtor. On Thursday night Joe and I were out to dinner before heading to a play, and he said mentioned that we needed to make a decision on which house to put an offer on by this weekend. I agreed and asked if he would let me think about it. The conversation quickly changed as I remembered I needed to call a friend who had text me much earlier in the day and I said I would call her when I was done with class. When I called she said "There is this guy I work with (she works for the FBI) that just got assigned to DC for a year and a half. He lives in our ward and is looking for someone who can live in his house, and only pay for utilities for that time. Oh, and by the way it is a new 2600 sq. ft. custom home that overlooks the city." Joe and I both just about died. We got the information and met with the family. Unfortunately they had also spoken with another family about it, so we had something to prove.  After we met with them on Sat. night, we waited with baited breath, and let me tell you, it was baited breath. Joe even said " I won't answer on the first ring because I do not want to seem desperate." Well in the end it all worked out. We move in in about 2 weeks.  I told Joe that I felt like this was the best thing that has ever happened to me. He said "hmm. I don't know, marriage kind of tops my list." Thanks for putting me in my place.  We won't be able to do much decorating, but pictures will soon follow.
